🌸 I am ethnically Somali- I was born the US- when I was 5 years old I moved to the UK. I grew up in London and moved again to Birmingham- UK -where my family and I currently reside-. I am currently a university student in the US- majoring in Global studies with a concentration in Global health. I am in my final year of university and inshallah will return home to the UK. 🌸 I am passionate about finding the best way to contribute to my Muslim community. My dream is to pursue a PhD program related to community wellbeing within the Muslim community. My favorite discussions comes from Quran- Hadith- and Justice-activism. I love activism - research- being actively involved within the Muslim community and learning about Islam. I am looking to pursue Islamic studies prior to a PhD program. 🌸 My family and friends would describe me as kind- passionate- sweet and caring. And also as someone who can get lost easily -bad with directions 😅-- shy and anxious -but once I am comfortable I am way too social-. I love being creative- nature- having deep conversations- exploring and trying new things. I love watching multi cultural shows. I grew up watching Bollywood shows- kdramas- Turkish dramas and c dramas- this made me love learning languages. I took Chinese in my university- and a little bit of Arabic. I understand a little bit of Arabic- can read and write but I am in no way fluent -I am a beginner-. 🌸 My childhood-upbringing 🌸 I was raised lovingly by my mother- my father wasn’t present in our life. I did go through a lot during my childhood but Alhamdulilah Allah is the one who is constantly healing me. I don’t use certain struggles tho as an excuse to be negative or harmful to anyone. I see it as something that has played a huge role in my life- a test and alhamdulilah something that has increased my empathy- care and concern for others. I still do go through a lot of health struggles due to my childhood- but alhamdulilah I am definitely in a process of healing and recovery. 🌸 A little more about me: I am not a great cook unfortunately but I am learning to cook.
