"The Journey of Jamaaluddiin" I was born into a very strict Christian family- where faith was a fire that burned with discipline and devotion. Yet- even as a child- I felt the quiet pull of something deeper — a longing that could not be named. About twenty years ago- Allah opened a door. Through the guidance of a spiritual Sheikh from Pakistan — a man of deep heart and remembrance — I found Islam. Not the Islam of mere rituals and words- but the Islam of the soul- where every breath remembers the One who gave it. When I took my shahādah- I gained peace — and lost the closeness of my family. For twenty years- they did not speak to me. It was a heavy silence- but within that silence- I learned the language of the heart. Allah says in the Qur’an: “And whoever puts his trust in Allah- then He is sufficient for him.” -Surah At-Talaq 65:3- Indeed- Allah was sufficient. Every tear became a prayer- every trial a reminder that this world is not our home. My Sheikh taught me that the path to Allah is not found in the noise of the world- but in the stillness of remembrance. “Verily- in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” -Surah Ar-Ra’d 13:28- I take my dīn very seriously — not out of fear- but out of love. Our time in this world is short enough- why waste it on anything other than Allah- The Prophet ﷺ said: “Be in this world as though you were a stranger or a traveler.” -Sahih al-Bukhari 6416- And so I walk lightly- keeping my gaze on the Hereafter. My heart is content with the path Allah has written for me- even if it led through solitude — for solitude with Allah is never loneliness. A Few Lines of Spiritual Poetry O heart- why cling to passing clay- When dawn of truth dispels the gray- The world deceives- the soul must flee- There’s nothing here but “He- and He.” Love Him till all desires fall still- Till only His will bends your will. Let the world turn — let time decay- The heart that knows Allah will never stray. Closing Reflection Islam taught me that beauty lies in surrender- not control- in remembrance- not distraction- in patience- not complaint. If my family could not see my faith- Allah saw it — and that is enough. “Indeed- my prayer- my sacrifice- my life and my death are for Allah- Lord of the Worlds.” -Surah Al-An‘ām 6:162- All praise belongs to Allah — who takes hearts from darkness to light- and from longing to peace.
