My name is Omar- a 24-year-old Software Engineer based in Indiana. I’m originally from Egypt- but I spent the majority of my life in Medina- Saudi Arabia- where I was raised and lived for 12 years. I’ve only lived in Egypt for a single year- making Saudi culture a significant part of my identity. Despite this- I follow Islam above culture- embracing practices that align with my faith while appreciating diverse cultural values. I come from a dedicated and hardworking family. My father is a pathologist- and my mother is an Arabic and Quran teacher. Their influence has instilled in me a love for knowledge- education- and serving the community. I came to the United States in 2018 to pursue my education- earning a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering -2022- and a Master’s in Computer Science -2023-. I now work as a software engineer- where I combine my passion for technology with meaningful projects. Beyond my job- I have a deep passion for Islam and software engineering. I actively participate in my local masjid- attending and organizing halaqas to strengthen the community- and I dedicate time to personal coding projects and teaching through my tutoring agency. As a hafiz- my Islamic faith is the most important aspect of my life. I strive to stay close to Allah through consistent prayer- fasting- and learning- believing that this life is a step toward the ultimate goal of the hereafter. I don’t view these practices as extraordinary but as the bare minimum in living a meaningful life rooted in faith and good character. I’m an extrovert who enjoys connecting with others and fostering meaningful relationships. My hobbies include sports like tennis- soccer- table tennis- and pickleball- as well as photography- designing- coding- learning- teaching- and reading. Fitness is also part of my routine- as I go to the gym 3–4 times a week. I enjoy conversations with people of all ages but find the most growth in talking with those who are older and wiser.
